Mayor Moorthorne Donates $50,000 to Duskmoor Sheriff’s Department for Equipment Upgrades
In a powerful show of support for local law enforcement, Mayor Moorthorne has generously donated $50,000 to the Duskmoor Sheriff’s Department to aid in the purchase of updated equipment and technology.
Sheriff Caldwell formally accepted the donation this week, calling it “a timely and vital investment in the safety and preparedness of our officers, and in turn, the well-being of every Duskmoor resident.”
The funds will be allocated toward several key initiatives designed to modernize and enhance the department’s daily operations. Planned purchases include:
Upgraded body-worn cameras for all deputies, improving transparency and accountability in the field.
New communication radios with expanded rural range, vital for coordinating patrols in remote areas.
Enhanced vehicle lighting and siren systems to improve response times and safety during emergencies.
Protective gear replacements including vests and first aid kits for officers on active duty.
Updated computer systems and forensic software to assist with casework, evidence processing, and inter-agency coordination.
“Our goal is to equip our team with the best tools possible,” said Sheriff Caldwell. “This donation allows us to move forward faster than we anticipated. We are deeply grateful to Mayor Moorthorne for his continued faith in the work we do.”
This is not the first time Mayor Moorthorne has championed public safety in Duskmoor. Since taking office, he has advocated for increased funding to emergency services, improved training standards for officers, and community outreach programs aimed at building trust between law enforcement and residents.
“Keeping Duskmoor safe is a shared responsibility,” said Mayor Moorthorne during a brief appearance at the department. “This town is built on trust between neighbors, between families, and between the public and those who serve them. I’m proud to support Sheriff Caldwell and his team as they work tirelessly to uphold the law with honor and compassion.”
The Sheriff’s Department has already begun procurement procedures and expects many of the upgrades to be in place by early winter. Community members are encouraged to attend the upcoming Public Safety Open House in November to see demonstrations of the new equipment and meet with local deputies.
This generous act serves as yet another reminder that Duskmoor is a place where leadership and law enforcement walk hand-in-hand, and where community comes first.
