Community Notice: Increased Litter in the River — Action Needed
There has been an uptick in the amount of litter in our beautiful river. This needs to stop now.
To the residents of Duskmoor,
We’ve recently seen a noticeable uptick in litter and debris turning up in the River—plastic and glass bottles, fast food wrappers, discarded fishing line, and even an old shopping cart pulled from under the footbridge this week.
Let us be clear: this is unacceptable.
The river is not just part of Duskmoor’s landscape—it’s part of our identity. Families fish here. Kids play here during the summer. Wildlife depends on it. When people treat it like a dumping ground, it affects all of us.
Littering is a violation of local and environmental ordinances, and anyone caught doing so may be cited. Patrols near the riverwalk and bridges will be stepped up in the coming weeks.
But enforcement alone won’t fix the problem—we need our community to help.
Join us for a river clean up day. This event will take place on Saturday, November 16th. Gloves, trash bags and tools will be provided. There will also be concession stands and all proceeds will go to support the continued improvement of our River Walk and Parks.
Let’s come together to clean up what others have carelessly left behind. If you love Duskmoor—and we know you do—help us protect the natural beauty we all share.
Thank you for the pride you show in our town.
